Runemaker Group is a partnership operating as a subsidiary of Runemaker Online Quantum Systems (ROQS.CO.UK) a sole trader company founded by Bob Oswald and his wife Helen in 1989. ROQS.CO.UK is a registered dotcom company in the U.K., and "Runemaker Group" is a trade mark registered in the UK.

The initial purpose of the company was to provide Quality Assurance consultancy services to British firms requiring accreditation to ISO9000. During the UK economic recession of the 1990s consultancy work was scarce and Bob found himself spending more time on his private interest in runes and his hobby of woodworking than he did on quality assurance.

Selling rune casting sets and runic talismans at occult gatherings, wooden toys and games at craft fairs developed into a supplementary source of income during the next 5 years. In 1994 he launched two private websites (www.runemaker.com and www.wooden-games.com) as part of these ventures and was amazed at the worldwide demand for the handmade products.

In March 2004 Bob retired from full-time employment and decided to close down the quality assurance work. He now operates the runes and craftwork business as a retirement occupation and hobby.

During the early part of 2004 www.runeworks.co.uk (rune sets) and www.rune-fonts.co.uk (TTF fonts) were launched.
